Located right on the Essex and Suffolk border, just outside the village of Ardleigh, Home Farm Apiaries was born as a hobby back in 2017. The family run apiaries - Marcel Grigore, his wife , Ksenija, and 2 little bees - Nicholas and Sophia, started with 3 hives, all local swarms, and within 3 years we have extended our passion for bees to over 20 hives. This is a drop in the ocean, if you think that the smallest bee farmer runs perhaps at least 200 hives. We don't import or buy bees or queens, but spit our hives as part of the swarm management routine, graft just hatched larva to produce queens from our best hives, as well as we rescue swarms which we relocate and care for in our apiaries. The best advice we ever got was "never buy bees", and we haven't and never will.
We keep bees purely as a hobby, and see the miracle called honey as a by product which we want to share its amazing benefits within our community.
If you need more info about our operation please visit "Our Apiary" tab for additional pictures, what happened this week and how you can help the bees.
We would really appreciate your feedback, suggestions, tips, so please share them with us.
